Working with Us

What does Braw House actually do?

We design thoughtful interiors and take them from idea to build-ready. That includes layout planning, joinery drawings, materials/fixtures selection, photo-real 3D visuals, and a clear spec pack for trades. If you’d like us to manage the build, we can—coordinating contractors, quality, and timelines.

Do you take on small jobs or only full renovations?

Both. We offer Room Refresh (single space), Full House Design, and Project Management for renovations. Commercial/boutique projects are quoted to scope.

Do you work outside Edinburgh?

Yes—globally via remote design. Site visits can be added; travel is billed at cost + time.

Do you build the joinery yourselves?

No—we design and specify. We’ll recommend trusted joiners or work with yours, providing dimensioned fabrication drawings and a finishes schedule.

Can you coordinate with my architect?

Absolutely. We produce the interior information they need and keep drawings aligned throughout.

Deliverables & Scope

What do I receive at the end?

Depending on your choice of service/s, it can include: A Handover Pack: scaled layout, joinery elevations/sections (where applicable), moodboard & palette, materials & fixtures schedule with links/lead times, 3D stills, and an implementation roadmap PDF. Managed projects also get a site programme and snag list.

How accurate are the visuals?

They’re photo-real for layout and scale. Colour and Material can shift with light and screens; your spec lists exact products for on-site matching.

Who measures the space?

You can provide measurements/photos for remote work, or we can arrange a measured survey. Joinery and critical dimensions must be site-verified by the fabricator before ordering.

Can I reuse your templates?

Yes—our moodboard/spec templates are yours to reuse in your home. CAD/source files are available when included in scope or as an add-on.

Do you handle product purchasing?

Two options: (1) we give you a shoppable list to order directly, or (2) we procure on your behalf (invoice + logistics fee).

Process & Communication

How long does a room take?

This entirely depends on scope of works which could include bespoke joinery designs. Typically 7–10 working days from confirmed brief/measurements to final concept pack. Larger homes are phased; we’ll map this in your proposal.

How many revisions are included?

One round is standard for room packages; additional changes are billed at our hourly/day rate and scheduled quickly.

How do we communicate?

Kick-off call → weekly update (email or video) → shared folder with drawings/visuals → live review at each milestone. Urgent site queries get same-day responses during working hours.

What if my contractor suggests changes?

We review for design intent, budget, and buildability. Minor tweaks are included; re-designs due to late scope changes are billed additionally.

Pricing, Budget & Payments

How do you price?

By service and scope. Room packages have fixed inclusions; full houses and commercial work are bespoke. Project management is a % of labour + materials (outlined in your proposal).

How do you keep costs under control?

We design to a target budget, flag cost/lead-time risks early, and provide alternates. Managed projects track spend against plan and approve variations in writing.

What’s the payment structure?

Booking deposit to start; staged invoices at agreed milestones. For build management, monthly or stage-based billing.

Refunds/cancellations?

If you pause/cancel, we invoice for work to date and release all completed deliverables.

On-Site, Quality & Aftercare

Do you visit site?

For managed projects—yes, on a scheduled cadence. For design-only, ad-hoc site visits can be added.

Who is responsible for warranties/quality on site?

Contractors warranty their work and products they supply. We oversee quality when managing the build and issue a snag list before handover.

Do you offer aftercare?

Yes—each project includes a short support window for queries. Ongoing support or styling visits can be added.

Compliance & Practicalities

Planning permission/building warrant—can you help?

We provide the design/spec information your architect or approved professional needs and coordinate to keep drawings aligned.

Accessibility & sustainability?

We can design to accessibility needs and favour durable, responsibly sourced materials. Tell us your priorities and we’ll build them into the spec.

Photography & privacy?

We love to photograph finished work (with your approval). We’ll never share addresses or personal details.
